Phil-a'ed !!!

New Phillies manager Mike Hopcroft did a fine job in piloting the Phillies to three wins in four games against the Cardinals, effectively ending the midwesterners post season dreams.
Ironically the only game St. Louis managed to win was one in which they gave up 8 runs in one inning, yet never scored more than 3 in any one inning of their own. That was game two, a wild affair that featured 26 runs, 33 hits, and 14 walks. The Cardinals shot out to a 6-1 lead, but then suffered through that 8 run inning and found themselves down 9-6. They then immediately put together one of their 3 run innings (they did this three times in the game, to tie it 9-9 in the sixth.

The game ended in a football-type score of 14-12. Mike Schmidt hit a grand slam for Philadelphia, while Johnny Hopp ( a boyhood friend of my dad's by the way) had 5 hits for St. Louis. That is the wildest game I've ever been involved in in KOD history. --submitted by Bike Mike - 41 Cardinals--
